About this Event
About this class: Our pottery classes focus on wheel-throwing techniques and accommodate skill levels from total beginners to advanced potters. Our small group size ensures individual guidance and ample time with the instructor to address any questions each student may have. Various throwing projects, glazing, and surface decoration techniques will be explored over the period of eight weeks.

Demonstrations will occur at the beginning of each session, followed by group exercises, and one-on-one guidance. Students will be able to handle their pieces through the entire ceramic process, starting from a lump of clay all the way through to glazing. Topics include learning how to wedge clay, centering on the wheel, throwing forms like cups, bowls, plates, vases, etc., trimming, and glazing. Everyone is given creative freedom to develop their own personal aesthetic.
By the end of the class, you’ll have a good understanding of basic ceramic studio practices, and you will learn what's needed to become a member of Erie ClaySpace!
The class fee includes one bag of clay (25 pounds), all glazing materials, firings, and additional practice hours in the studio. Extra clay is available for purchase as needed.
