About this Event

MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) is an 8-week course program that has proven to help reduce stress and promote overall well-being. If you are an English speaker living in Hamburg and looking for a way to manage stress, increase mindfulness, and cultivate greater resilience, then MBSR could be the course for you.

In our MBSR course, you will learn a variety of techniques and practices that will help you develop mindfulness, reduce stress, and improve your overall quality of life. These practices include meditation, gentle yoga, and body awareness exercises, which can help you better understand your thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations.

The benefits of practicing MBSR are many. Studies have shown that it can help reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, and chronic pain. It can also help improve sleep quality, lower blood pressure, and boost immune function. With regular practice, MBSR can help you develop greater self-awareness, improve your relationships, and increase your overall sense of well-being.

Our MBSR course is taught by Deirdre Kay a native English speaker who is passionate about helping individuals cultivate mindfulness and resilience. Deirdre offers a supportive, non-judgmental environment that is conducive to learning and growth.

The 8 sessions will take place on Monday afternoons from 4pm to 6:15pm

Mindfulness Retreat day wil lbe held on Saturday 1st of July from 9am to 3pm.

Course Description:
What is mindfulness and how can it help deal with stress and pain?

Mindfulness is a path that teaches us to experience ourselves and the world in a vivid and immediate way. Through mindfulness we deal more consciously with our body, our thoughts, feelings and behavioral patterns. By developing mindfulness we can reduce inner stress and develop new ways of living daily life.

Through continuous practice, participants in an MBSR course learn to quiet the mind and it is possible to experience periods of deep inner stillness and relaxation.


MBSR course content

After an individual preliminary discussion, the course includes 8 evenings (each 2.5 hours) and a one day silent retreat ( 6 hours) with the following content:

  • Mindfulness exercises while sitting, walking and lying down
  • Mindful bodywork, gentle yoga and stretching exercises
  • Short lectures and group discussions on key topics such as dealing with stress or pain and with difficult feelings

With the support of CDs, the exercises are practiced regularly at home. Regular practice is an essential element of mindfulness training. In order to integrate the program content into everyday life, the willingness to set up an exercise time of approx. 30 to 45 minutes at home over a period of 8 weeks, 6 days a week is required.
