About this Event

Choice Point Psychological Services offers an 8-week evidence-based grief recovery group to help individuals struggling with grief or loss. This 8-week grief recovery program provides a safe and supportive space for individuals to process their emotions and work through the challenges of profound loss and grief.

Grief is a natural emotional response to loss, particularly the loss of someone or something that has had significant meaning in a person's life. The experience of grief can involve a wide range of emotions, such as sadness, anger, guilt, anxiety, and even relief. It can also manifest physically, with symptoms such as fatigue, insomnia, loss of appetite, and physical pain.

Several types of loss can cause grief, including:

Death of a loved one: This is perhaps the most commonly recognized cause of grief. Losing someone close, whether it be a family member, friend, or even a pet, can be a deeply painful and difficult experience.

Divorce or separation: The end of a relationship can also cause grief, particularly if the relationship is a long-term one or if there are children involved.

Loss of a job: Losing a job can cause a sense of grief, particularly if it was a job that held significant meaning or provided a sense of purpose or identity.

Loss of a home: Losing a home due to foreclosure, eviction, or other circumstances can be a significant loss that can lead to grief.

Loss of a pet: The death of a pet can be a difficult loss, particularly for those who view their pets as members of the family.

Loss of a dream: Failing to achieve a long-held dream, such as starting a business, becoming a professional athlete, or writing a book, can also cause grief.

Loss of physical or cognitive abilities: Losing physical or cognitive abilities due to illness, injury, or aging can be a significant loss that can lead to grief.

Loss of a sense of safety: Experiencing a traumatic event, such as a natural disaster or a violent crime, can cause a loss of a sense of safety and security, leading to grief.

Our group sessions are facilitated by Abbey Pinder, a Registered Psychologist and experienced grief recovery specialist who has helped countless individuals navigate their grief and come to terms with the loss they have experienced. Our program can be an excellent resource for anyone as they work through the grieving process.

The grief recovery group will start on Tuesday, May 2nd and run every Tuesday from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm until June 20th, 2023. This group is covered as a service under most extended healthcare benefit plans. You will be provided with a receipt after each session to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

This program can be a valuable resource for individuals struggling with the pain of loss, and we would be honoured to support them on their journey to healing.
