About this Event

A linocut is a type of relief print in which the artist carves an image into a lino block and what's left of the block is inked and printed. Linocut is a playful medium and allows the artist to experiment with numerous inking techniques, using the same block, to produce a variety of beautiful results

In this course, subsidised by the Barnet Guild of Artists, you will learn multiple techniques exploring how to:

prepare your lino plate and transfer your design onto a lino block
use cutting tools safely
cut a variety of marks and textures
experiment with inking techniques
registration techniques
create prints using reduction and jigsaw linocut techniques
tips o how to print at home

This course is run for members of the Barnet Guild of Artists (BGA). BGA was founded, by the late Gwyneth Cowing, in 1948 and welcomes artists from beginners to professionals to join a range of weekly activities and sessions, across a variety of methods and disciplines. Annual membership to the BGA is just £10.
