??What: This is an introductory course that explores Afro-Cuban dance from the west African diaspora (Yoruba culture) in relation to musical connection, religious meaning, characterization and the development of Cuban Santeria. Class will include a whole body in motion experience with a sophisticated use of polyrhythm, weight shifts, pelvic and spinal articulation. The class will both develop embodiment and academia of Afro-Cuban dance, music, history and culture.
Following the intensive in August will be a special worskhop with Marisol Blanco, Master Teacher and graduate of Cuba’s prestigious Superior Institute of Arts (ISA) Bachelor’s of dance teacher from The National School of Arts (ENA) which currently resides in Miami, FL. There will be live music/accompanist by Daniel Lopez’ Rumba Ensamble.
