Join Green Guerrilla and Naturalist David Schoenknecht at the Elgin Math and Science Academy ?
David Schoenknecht is the Naturalist at Hawthorne Hill Nature Center and a Kane County Certified Naturalist. David has become expert on the work of two University of Illinois geologists, B. Brandon Curry and David A. Grimley who have extensively studied our area. David has presented his findings to those preparing for naturalist certifications, neighborhood groups, and community organizations. He has also led motor coach tours around the bed of Glacial Lake Pingree exploring the remnants of this primal lake.
Kane County’s unique topography is a result of significant glacial activity that occurred during the last Ice Age. The Fox River Torrent, the Kaneville Esker, and Glacial Lake Pingree--an immense body of water that existed 14,000 years go which extended south to north from Lily Lake to Crystal Lake and east to west from Randall Road to Illinois Route 47--are among Kane County’s Ice Age highlights!
Naturalist David Schoenknecht’s presentation called “The 8 Glacial Wonders of Kane County” provides a glimpse into both the natural history and the ongoing significance of these wonders.
The presentation will be followed by a Native Plant Pop-Up Sale by Green Guerrilla . We will be offering a scheduled 15-minute native garden consultation with a GG #Naturalist or #LandscapeDesigner, at the sale. Contact us through our website, www.Green-Guerrilla.com, to schedule your appointment.
