Students will learn the fundamentals of basket weaving using the twining method. They will soak natural twine in water to increase flexibility, then use it to construct a 6” x 6” handwoven basket. All materials will be provided. Rileigh Peña Vidal is a metalsmith and jewelry artist from Fort Worth, Texas, currently pursuing a BFA in Metalsmithing and Jewelry at the University of North Texas. She is best known for her biomorphic forms that explore the organic intersection between body and nature. She is currently an intern at the Denton Maker Center, where she continues to develop her technical skills and community engagement.
