7empest - Tool Tribute / Evil Empire - Rage Against The Machine Tribute

Saturday, March 1, 2025

Come join us at the Vault Performing Arts Center & Pub for an amazing night of Tool and Rage Against The Machine Tribute.

Reproducing the monster low end of 2 of rock's most recognizable bass players is no small task. Micheal Butas rises to the challenge with a laid back focus that is the core of their group. Ever positive no matter the chaos on stage, he's the heart of 7empest and their barefoot beast of a bass player. Whether laying down those heavy strums of D"Amore or picking his way through the effects-laden genius of Chancellor, the 7empest machine flows along the edges of Butasia that is this talented musician.

Treating the drums as their own instrument to be played with notes and harmony, not just a beat behind the music has always been what separates TOOL from most bands. 7empest is extremely lucky to have a musician who embraces this with passion and focus. While their newest member, Jimbo is an experienced and accomplished drummer across multiple genres. From drumming and producing his original hard-core act UNAKANU, to drum lessons from his space in Boston, he's no slouch when it comes to technical drum theory. His passion for TOOL and Danny Carey's approach to drumming goes back to the early years and is a main influence on his style. Combining the sonic thunder of American hard rock, with the swaying beats of tribal polyrhythms Jimbo also embraces the synth beats Danny is known for in his interludes and solos to push 7empest to the necessary level of true representation of TOOL compositionally. A dedicated and precise drummer, his calming attitude is a welcome presence both on stage and in the rehearsal space. His drumming raises the level of what's possible for 7empest as we continue on this musical journey.

3rd guitarist Bill Keefe. Not many of you know that Bill's main instrument for years has been the bass. A sneaky advantage 7empest has is technically 2 bass players in the band. However, he's a mad genius when it comes to tone which is one of the things that makes him perfect for replicating Jones' sounds and effects. Always working on perfecting every chord, distortion, and clean channel Bill is as solid as they come musically and is a true professional both on and off the stage. Whether he's chopping on that sludgy rhythm or picking away at the later solos, there's no time signature he doesn't master as he tackles everything Adam Jones has delivered over 30 years of music. Much of 7empest's sound is owed to Bill's relentless pursuit of perfection and constant deep dives into dialing in the perfect tones. He's also the band's guitar tech as capable with optimizing and upgrading pickups and electronics as he is with performing at a high level on stage.

Vocalist Mike Hamel with his signature mohawk and howling vocals Mike carries the full range of Maynard with an enormous amount of energy. Mike leads the crowd through the entire discography’s lyrics with extreme confidence and precision. Whether a room of 50 or 500 Mike’s passion for not only the music, but also his performance is always on full display as he cavorts around the stage channeling old school rock and punk like he was born to it. From the soft harmonies to the full-tilt screams there isn’t a song across any of TOOL’s albums Mike struggles with. Mike has been singing his whole life, from choirs to other hard rock bands and is constantly fine-tuning his techniques. When not on stage, Mike is hard at work behind the scenes creating the psychedelic videos on display during 7empest’s live performance and handling all of the band’s booking management. As the founding member of 7empest he’s constantly tweaking the band’s image and artwork to perfection with the goal to make 7empest THE definitive New England-based TOOL Tribute.

Evil Empire delivers an authentic tribute to Rage Against The Machine. With precise sound, stage energy, and flexible sets, we engage fans, honor a musical legacy, and spark critical thought making each performance a powerful, unforgettable experience.
