Join the Royal Canadian College of Organists Halifax Centre for its 74th annual Festival of Carols on Monday, December 1 at the Cathedral Church of All Saints! This serviceSince its inception 74 years ago, this carol service has dwelt at a distinctive ecumenical crossroads. What began in the beloved tradition of King’s College Chapel, Cambridge has blossomed into a rich journey through the Nativity, combining choral music, congregational hymns, sacred readings, and poetry.
This year, we explore the theme Hope Evermore — a message woven throughout the evening. Joined with the plainsong hymn Of Eternal Love Begotten, our spoken word and song alike invite reflection, comfort, and renewal.
Organists from across the region will be joined by a 75-strong Festival Massed Choir comprising singers from throughout the region.
We are delighted to be joined by Guest Reader, The Rev’d Canon LCol (Rtd) Dr. Gary Thorne, the Priest-in-Charge at St George's Round Church in Halifax's North End. Galileo Chamber Choir will be the guest choir, led by Dr. Andrew Pickett.
Organ Preludes begin at 7:00pm with the service proper beginning at 7:30pm and lasting approximately one hour.
This event is public and open to all. The Cathedral Church of All Saints is a wheelchair accessible space. There is no charge for admission; however, a freewill offering will be received.
