This July marked our 70 year anniversary which was celebrated with a special exhibition and running weekend in charting the progression of transport from 1930 to the present day.
As part of the celebrations during the weekend of 13th & 14th July we ran a number of special trains on the Sea Wall scene under the banner of “GWR Then and Now”.
The event was such a success we have decided to re-run it on the weekend of 7th & 8th December the last weekend we are open before we close for the winter period.
The trains scheduled to run are:
- GW King Henry VIII on the Cornish Riviera Express
- An Ex GWR 4-6-0 Grange Class 'Bucklebury Grange' 6803 Steam Locomotive
- Western Class Diesel 1960s
- HST in original livery as introduced in 1976
- Motor-Rail train 1990s
- Class 158 on a local service in First GW Livery
Please note that these trains are all historical models kindly lent to Pendon Museum for the purposes of this special event and as such might succumb to engineering faults on the day!
The wider exhibition (excluding the above running sequence) continues to be on display until the end of the year in various locations around the museum. This includes a number of photographs from our archive as well as a small selection of historical vehicle models kindly lent to the museum for the purposes of the exhibition.
No pre-booking necessary normal museum admission prices and opening times apply.
