Cliffe Pools is a stunning site in Medway cared for by the RSPB. This unique nature reserve, with its vast lagoons and saltmarshes, is a haven for wildlife, including rare birds such as avocets, black-tailed godwits, and little egrets. Every year, thousands of migratory birds stop here, making it one of the most important wetlands in the UK. 🐦🌾
Unfortunately, the beauty of Cliffe Pools and its wildlife faces threats from plastic pollution. Did you know that 80% of marine litter originates from land-based sources, often ending up in places like Cliffe Pools? Plastic can take hundreds of years to degrade, endangering animals that can accidentally ingest it or become entangled.
Washed up from the sea and also polluted by local drivers, Cliffe Pools unfortunately is home to a lot of plastic and litter. We’re coming together as a community to tackle this problem and protect our local wildlife. By removing litter, we’re ensuring the reserve remains a safe, pristine environment for the birds and the many other species that call it home.
It is important to us an an outdoor company that we help protect the nature we so enjoy being part of on our walks.

🌄 Terrain: Roads and paved tracks – flat
🍽️ Food & Drink: Please bring water. Snacks if required
🚽 Toilets: There are no toilets onsite.
🐕 Dogs: Well behaved on lead dogs are more than welcome to this event.
