The U-M Club of Houston has organized a volunteer event with the Houston Food Bank (HFB) as part of our ongoing Community Service Program.The work to be performed varies with the makeup of the volunteer group for the shift. Most warehouse projects involve inspection, sorting, and repackaging of donated food items for community distribution.
Please note the following:
• Children who volunteer MUST be at least 6 years old and supervised by parent or guardian throughout the shift.
• Closed-toe and closed-heel shoes are required. Please dress casually: long pants (preferred) and a t-shirt with sleeves. Bring work gloves, if desired.
• HFB does not allow outside food and drinks to be brought into the facility.
• If special accommodations are needed, let HFB know before your volunteer shift so they can plan accordingly.
Signing up to volunteer is a quick two-step process:
1) Register for our U-M Club of Houston Community Service Event below. You will receive a confirmation email from the AAUM with a link to the HFB volunteer site.
2) Using the link in the confirmation email, sign up with the Houston Food Bank for our U-M Club event. This registration with HFB prior to our club's volunteer day is required by the Food Bank.
