This comprehensive symposium will address the spectrum of knee surgery from arthroscopy to joint preservation through to unicompartment and total joint arthroplasty. The course will emphasize decision making with lectures, panel discussion, debate of controversial topics, and complications. Various demonstrations will be performed by the faculty, including ultrasound sessions. The non-operative and rehab aspect of most of these conditions will be integrated into the discussion.
By the end of the educational activity, participants will be able to:
• Accurately diagnose knee injuries and recognize the features that will dictate surgical technique;
• Outline the alternatives for approaches to the treatment of challenging and controversial cases;
• Recall the current up to date techniques of the complex knee arthroplasty;
• Recognize common complications of knee surgery, primarily in effort to avoid them, and adjust technique to ensure the optimum patient outcomes;
• Identify the anatomy of the knee with the use of ultrasound and demonstrate its use for intraarticular and intratendinous insertion
