About this Event
The 6th Annual Attica Uprising Community Remembrance Day, hosted by the Prisoners Brain Trust (PBT), is a day of remembrance, education, and community building. This year’s theme: Echoes Behind the Wall, Fires at the Border connects the 1971 Attica Uprising to ongoing struggles against state violence, mass incarceration, and oppressive border policies.
Attendees will experience an afternoon of free food, live performances, art exhibits, healing spaces, and educational programming all grounded in abolitionist values and led by directly impacted people.
This gathering honors the lives lost and the movement sparked by the Attica brothers, while uplifting current campaigns for justice, including the fight to repeal New York’s felony M**der law. It’s a space where history, healing, and action meet.
What to Expect:
- Opening ceremony honoring the legacy of the Attica Uprising
- Live music and performances from local and regional artists
- Community art and poetry showcase featuring works from incarcerated artists and writers
- Healing clinic offering wellness practices and resources
- Educational tables from community organizations and advocacy groups
- Free community meal with vegan and traditional options
- Children’s activities and family-friendly environment
This is more than an event it’s a call to remember, to connect, and to take action together.
