This year's theme is: Celebrating Irish Culture and Traditions
We have the honor of having John Heinzman as our 2026 Grand Marshal!
Our 2026 Parade Commentators are Patrick Johnson – Host of the Irish Music Cafe Radio Show and Jason Raithel – 104.3 WOMC Radio Station.
The 2026 Hometown Heroes are Lieutenant Mark Hunt – Southgate Fire Dept and Julia Wall – Director of Education, Michigan Parkinson’s Foundation.
A grand welcome to our 2026 Ireland dignitaries – Director of Services for Housing, Asset Management & Land Development; Keith Jones, Deputy Mayor Cllr. Ian Doyle and Cllr. Audrey Buckley!
The parade typically attracts 80,000-100,000 people, making it one of the largest St. Patrick’s parades in the country and it features floats, marching bands, color guard units and more.
The Detroit St. Patrick’s Parade has brought together people of all cultures and nationalities in metro Detroit to celebrate Irish culture and make lasting memories. The parade is a great time to celebrate Corktown, Detroit and the positive momentum in the Corktown area.
The United Irish Societies is made up of more than 35 Irish organizations across Metro Detroit. Many members, community leaders and business professionals who make up the UIS donate time, money, and resources to ensure that the parade and other philanthropic efforts continue to be supported.
The United Irish Societies (UIS) is the organization that hosts the parade. In 1958, the UIS hosted the first St. Patrick’s Parade in Dearborn, MI. The Parade route follows along Michigan Avenue through the area known as Corktown. Corktown received its name as the Irish were the largest ethnic group of newcomers to Detroit, most of them from County Cork. The Corktown neighborhood is Detroit’s oldest surviving neighborhood.
A heartfelt thank you for everyone who volunteered and sponsored the 2025 parade! There was countless hours, effort and dedication that went into making the parade the huge success it was.
