About this Event
The Department of Sociology and Criminology at Essex warmly invites you to join us for our anniversary conference to celebrate our 60th anniversary. The conference will bring together sociologists from Essex and beyond for a stimulating and lively discussion about sociological challenges, uncertainties and opportunities.
Our keynote speakers will be Professor Gurminder Bhambra (University of Sussex), Professor Nandita Sharma (University of Hawai'i at Manoa) and Professor Gary Younge (University of Manchester).
Parallel panels will be organised by our five departmental research centres, the Centre for Research in Economic Sociology and Innovation (CRESI), the Centre for Intimate and Sexual Citizenship (CISC), the Centre for Criminology (C4C), the Centre for Migration Studies (CMS) and the Centre for Global South Studies (CGSS).
The conference will take place in person on Friday 20th September 2024 (10am to 6pm followed by a reception) at the University of Essex, Colchester, UK. A detailed programme will be announced in late June 2024.
