Class info:
Math and Art and often viewed as polar opposites. Nothing could be farther than the truth. Think of them as fraternal twins. In some ways they do not look alike but other ways they are strongly connected and work wonderfully together and end up looking very similar.
Making these connections will enhance skills and understanding in both subjects.
What age?
I have found students starting as young as 6 can often grasp more than you think. Learning is presented and practiced in brief sprints 10 minutes max. The rest of the hour will be focused on an art project. You may find that your student is not able to stay focused on the art portion, the learning is set up in a way that your student might prefer to leave early or possibly stay late. The studio art time is about engagement not completing or staying until the end. Some students will not last the hour and others will stay engaged the full 1.5 hour. The extra 30 minutes is definitely flexible and optional. It is there for the student who wants to stay engaged beyond the hour.
