6 week Well Being Workshop - APRIL START - DAYTIME

WEEK 1

Wednesday 17th April Session 1 - small group session with Clinical Psychologist Hanna Venton-Platz 10am-12pm

TOPIC: WHY SELF-CARE?

OUTLINE:

• Hanna will use polyvagal and compassionate mind frameworks to explore safety/compassion, fight/flight and disconnection/immobilisation.
• There will be space to discuss and reflect on the impact of providing care and advocating for young people who may be in distress as well as the reality of doing so in context of stretched systems.
• Discussion of the importance of self care on the self and co-regulation for those we are supporting.
• Discussion/reflection on what brings us back into a safe, compassionate and connected state.

WEEK 2

Thursday 25th April - Yoga & Soundbath 12.30-2.30pm

ACTIVITY: Indulge in 1 hour of yoga and meditation, followed by an hour being enveloped in the soothing and healing sound of the crystal bowls. The session will help you to relieve tension, float into deep relaxation and reconnect with yourself.

WEEK 3

Wednesday 1st May - Session 2 - small group session with Clinical Psychologist Hanna Venton-Platz 10am-12pm

TOPIC: POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE SELF- TALK Understanding ‘How We Communicate with Ourselves’.

OUTLINE:

· Using a compassion focussed approach, you will be supported to notice and think about the impact of self critical talk and then apply compassionate and soothing strategies.

· This is a practical session where Hanna will deliver compassionate mind strategies.

WEEK 4

Wednesday 8th May - Therapeutic art evening at Bean & Brush Art Cafe 6.30-8.30pm

ACTIVITY: Private use of the art cafe for a small group pottery painting session. Choose a mug, bowl or other pottery item up to the value of £18 to paint while you enjoy a hot drink and a sweet treat. An artist will be on hand to offer ideas and support.

WEEK 5

Wednesday 15th May Session 3 - small group session with Clinical Psychologist Hanna Venton-Platz 10am-12pm

TOPIC: I’M OKAY, YOUR’E OKAY! Understanding how we communicate with others

OUTLINE:

· Support to identify what situations put us into fight/flight or immobilise when communicating with others in the role of a carer.

· Discussion and practise of exercises that can bring us back into a safe/connected/compassion state when communicating with others.

WEEK 6

Week beginning Monday 20th May - Half hour relaxing beauty treatment. Flexible arrangement, book at any time over this week at a time which suits you.
