Please can you share -- Latest Update - [14 Going – 6 x places left] – Soulful Summer Camping Weekend Away – Saturday 14th of December – Wednesday 18th of December 2024 (Monday 16th of December 2024, is the Public holiday) - 5 x Day / 4 x Night – Glen Oaks Farm Stay with Private Camp Site, Offering stunning Fynbos Trails, with Awesome views. The Farm is located in the picturesque Hemel en Aarde Valley, between Hermanus and Caledon and hugged by the majestic Klein River Mountains and surrounded by fynbos and pastures, this farm at the end of the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. It is always great to find a new venue that offers trails from the accommodation location. (This weekend is Not Backpacking -- Camping for the Long weekend) - You will only need to take off the Tuesday and the Wednesday, as the Monday is the Public holiday.

FOR THOSE THAT HAVE BEEN BEFORE, WE WILL BE DOING ALL DIFFERENT NEW TRAILS FROM OUR PREVIOUS VISIT, FOR THIS EXTENDED FARM FYNBOS RETREAT
This is an astonishing private camp site, which is quite rare, that ticks all the boxes so close to Cape Town. I have booked this venue again for the end of the year over the long weekend in December 2024. We will be doing difference trails from the ones that we did early in the year. I am looking forward to returning to this remarkable camp site, certainly one of my favourites so close to Cape Town. This Perfect for an end of year get away to wind down in a location that offers awesome fynbos Hiking, swimming, a shaded forest for campsite and stunning mountain views. It was also awesome to be able to wake up to sounds of birds, cows, peacocks and porcupine was even spotted close to our camp site.
Cost: R 1365.00 per person to secure your booking for this Private Group camp site. This will be a self-catering Private Campsite option, with shared communal lunch and dinner. Included in the payment will be your accommodation for the 4 x nights and the various guided activities on offer.

The Main Trail that we will be hiking on is located on the same mountain range as the Fernkloof Nature Reserve and from looking at the pictures the variety of fynbos in bloom is going to be awesome. The will be a stunning summer weekend away. Our camp site is located in a dense pine forest with lots of shade and great swimming spots, to enjoy the summer weather. This area has been on my bucket list to explore for a while, so it’s great to find a camp site in the area. The trails will also be starting from our camp site.
As an added bonus, the moon will be a new moon, so the star gazing opportunities are going to awesome. The ideal weekend getaway to get up close and personal with our gorgeous pasture-reared farm animals, sample ethical charcuterie, swim in crystal pools, mountain bike, hike, spot wildlife such as Blue Cranes and Bat-Eared Foxes
The highlight will be the Glen Oakes Farm Fynbos Hiking Trail. This trail will start from the camp site and will follow the Hartebees River, up to the plateau. At the plateau, you will be able to see awesome views of the Klein Rivier Vlei, Views of Stanford, Costal Sea Views and views over towards Walker Bay Nature. The main trail will be 13.85km
We have our private campsite, to enjoy the beauty of the area. The Camp site boasts a wonderful lawned area with plenty of shade, a 5-minute walk from the big farm dam. There are flush toilets and hot showers. A boma area offers shelter from both wind and rain, but the fire-pit under the trees is your best bet if the weather plays ball.

This camp site is located at the distant end of the beautiful Hemel-en-Aarde and situated in close proximity to the city of Hermanus, it offers a tranquil countryside retreat and the perfect way to end of the year with like minded-people who love being out in nature. The campsite is located 133km from Cape Town or 35km from Hermanus.

ABOUT THE GUEST FARM

Glen Oakes Farm is the first farm in Africa to be accredited by A Greener World Foundation (AGW) for pasture and ethically raised pigs, sheep, and cattle. The farm is 300 hectares of which 200 hectares is mountain and fynbos. Although a working farm guests staying will enjoy peace and quiet as well as have the choice, if they're up for the activity, of wonderful trails for running or mountain biking or walking.
Set in the picturesque Hemel en Aarde Valley, Glen Oakes is primarily a livestock farm owned by Jules and Charles Crowther, who pride themselves on setting standards in ethically raising their beloved pasture-reared pigs, who enjoy a gourmet diet of acorns, roots and grubs.
The ideal weekend getaway to get up close and personal with our gorgeous pasture-reared farm animals, swim in crystal pools, Bird Viewing, hike, spot wildlife such as Blue Cranes and Bat-Eared Foxes

TRAIL ONE – HIGHLIGHT of the Trip away
The highlight will be the Glen Oakes Farm Fynbos Hiking Trail with Sea Views. This trail will start from the camp site and will follow the Hartebees River, up to the plateau. At the plateau, you will be able to see awesome views of the Klein Rivier Vlei, Views of Stanford, Costal Sea Views and views over towards Walker Bay Nature. The main trail will be 10.25km and will start from the Camp site

This will be an easier Glen Oaks Fynbos trail, with stunning Hemel en Aarde Valley views. This shorter trail will also start from the Camp site.

This will be an easier Glen Oaks Orchard Trail. This shorter trail will also start from the Camp site.

There are only TWO REQUIREMENTS to join this event.
Anyone is welcome to join as long as you have done TWO of the regular Sunday Walks before the due date of the event and ONE of the walks needed to behave done in the past 6th Months before the event.
The other requirement is that I need to meet you or that we have spoken on the telephone, so that I can to give you a sense of what is on offer before you book.
This structure / qualifying requirement has been put in place, so that I can gauge your fitness levels, meet you in person and determine whether you will be able to cope with the hike on offer. Joining in on at one of the walks before the event, also enhances the sense of soulful connectedness, as you will know some of the people going. The weekends away offer a combination of adventure of soulfulness, relaxation, group sharing of the day’s experience and time out is allocated for quiet time. By joining a walk I also get a chance to meet you and you will get to know what is on offer in person. This weekend away will be suitable for moderate levels of fitness. Extra time on the trails on these weekends away provides time to connect with the beauty of nature, including plenty of opportunity for taking pictures. There is also own time allocated on these weekends to explore the beauty of place where we are staying. Often there is an opportunity to swim, if it’s warm enough.

FITNESS REQUIRED

This walk on offer will be an INTERMEDIATE SOULFUL WALK which includes some hilly sections along the way. If you can walk up Lions Head to the top, then you can manage this route. However if you are new to the group and have any doubt of your fitness, due to the terrain or duration, please call and I can advise accordingly. Please note that the pace will not be rushed, so there is also lots of time for pictures and to enjoy this beautiful part of our country ;-) – if you need to ask me any questions about the walk, you can call me or whatsapp me on - 072 327 2840

COST OF TRIP AWAY
Bring your own tent and if you don’t have one, we will try and organise one for you.

This will be a 5 day / 4 night away trip, starting on the Saturday from 2pm to set up camp for the start of the event and our opening sharing circle and ending on Wednesday around 10am for our closing circle get together and sharing. VERY IMPORTANT -- Please check that you can commit to these times before joining. It is recommended that you take the Tuesday and Wednesday off to be there on time and to make the most of the Extended Weekend away.
Included in the payment will be your site for the 4 x nights, self-catering camping
(provide your own tent)trail permits, and the various guided activities on offer. Suitable for Most Levels of Fitness, but some minimum fitness is required.
Please note that bookings will be on a first-come first-served basis with payment, so book early to avoid disappointment.
The self-catering accommodation where we are staying at is located 1h45min / 133km from Cape Town. Wherever possible we will share the transport in getting there.

For these group events payments are made in advance for Accommodation or Adventure Activities or Permits, hence no refunds are on offer. If you are not able to join, a refund will not be offered unless the event is full and the last person refills your place. Once I have received their payment, I will refund you. I do however make every effort to regularly re-advertise cancelled spaces, via my various listings, that include Facebook, Meetup and my email listing, in an attempt to fill up the event and hopefully refund you. Please note that refunds are not guaranteed. The refilled spots need, need to also be refilled by those that meet the joining requirements, as listed in invite
If you can't make it for one of the adventures it is recommended that you find a replacement yourself, as I cannot guarantee that a replacement will be found. For the weekends away, any person who takes your place must have done one of the regular walks before the weekend away as per the usual qualifying requirements below.
With cancellations less than 7 days prior to our departure day, NO REFUNDS are on offer and your spot will NOT be re-advertised as it is too short notice. People tend to make other plans and bookings in the last week are very hard to refill unless I have a waiting list.
I also reserve the right to re-schedule or cancel a tour should the minimum number of people not be attained or if the booking is cancelled by the outsourced operator or due to the weather not being suitable; in this case a full refund will be offered.
PLEASE NOTE - When you book please note the joining requirement of having walked at least one Sunday walk in the 12 months prior to the event. If you have not done a walk before, you are able to secure a spot with payment, but the onus will be on you to attend at least one of the walks as discussed. It is recommended that you walk sooner rather than later. If you run out of time and do not walk you will not be able to attend. You will then unfortunately have to forfeit your booking and the above cancellation policy will apply.
