Celebrate Bats! Why do Bats matter? Humans need our beneficial flying friends, the bats. World wide there are more than 1400 species of bats. Bat live everywhere on earth except in most extreme deserts and polar regions. Bats consume insects, pollinate plants and dispense seeds, a single bat can eat up to it's body weight in insects each night and reduce the need for pesticides and fertilizers.
