About this Class

This class is perfect for beginners or anyone curious to try their hand at spooky cookie decorating! If you’ve ever tangled with tricky royal icing, have little experience with sugar cookies, or you’re just looking for a frightfully fun night with family or friends, this class is for you! We’ll be decorating six Halloween-inspired cookies that are guaranteed to cast a sweet spell on your creativity. 🎃🕸️

We provide everything you’ll need—freshly baked cookies, colorful icing, sprinkles, and a box to carry home your spooky masterpieces. Each ghoulish guest will decorate 6 cookies with 4 icing colors, fun sprinkles, and all the tools needed to make your treats monstrously magical. No baking or mixing required—just show up ready to decorate!

This class is on Tuesday, October 14th from 6:00–8:00 PM sharp so we have plenty of time to decorate, laugh, and answer questions along the way. Come alone, bring your best ghoul-friend, or round up the whole coven—we have seating for up to 25 people! Whether you fly in on a broom or creep in solo, you’ll have a blast. 🧙‍♀️

This spooky-sweet class is recommended for ages 16 and up. Younger kids are welcome with a parent who’s also purchased a ticket. If you’d rather leave the little monsters at home, grab an add-on kit! Kits come with cookies and icing, plus we’ll send you the class PowerPoint so you can lead a haunted cookie night of your own.

The class will be held at Chicken Salad Chick in Westerville, Ohio (687 Worthington Rd, Westerville, OH 43082). Don’t fear the parking lot—it’s wide open with plenty of spaces for all the ghouls and goblins attending.

FAQ

What will I be doing in the class?

Besides having the most fun ever? We will be going over some cookie facts, decorating techniques and you will be decorating your very own set of cookies that you will take home with you that day.

Can I purchase an additional take-home kit?

Yes! Many parents or practicing cookiers purchase additional class kits to take home and re-do the classes. You can purchase an add-on kit during check-out. Your kit will be available at the end of your class - so don't forget it! If you’re skipping class and just ordering the kit – swing by anytime during class to sneak in and pick it up – it’ll be labeled with your name!

Do I need to know how to bake?

Nope! No baking experience required. We will have the cookies pre-made for you along with the icing already mixed and colored. Have a little decorating experience under your belt… er… apron? Come on too! I can help with questions on icing mixing and dough spread!

What will we learn in class?

You’ll learn what goes into preparing royal icing, the value of different icing consistencies – we’ll touch on tips and tricks to make your cookies look even better than they taste (and they taste good)! You’ll also learn different decorating techniques depending on the class theme such as marbling, outlining, wet-on-wet, brush embroidery, and painting. Or hey – go off script and make your own designs – it’s your class!

What do I need to bring?

Nothing but a smile! Everything will be provided for you including my (rather tasty) sugar cookies. All you need to do is join us and have fun! Messy decorator? You can bring your own apron or just wear easy-to-wash clothing. There is a PowerPoint for reference, so if you wear glasses, we'd encourage you to bring them as well. Oh – and bring your phone – I love photos!

What age is best for cookie classes?

Our classes are for almost any age! From youngsters to grandparents - come on in and have some cookie fun with us! Our in-person classes are great for any age; however, kiddos under 16 will need a parent taking the class as well. If you think your child may be too young to enjoy the in-person class, purchase an additional take-home kit! We'll send you the class PowerPoint, and you can teach your kids in the comfort of your own home.

Can just my child take the class?

We ask that all parents also attend the classes with their children under age 16. For children over 16, you can drop off your child to take the class and return to pick-up in 2 hours. Due to space restrictions, we do not have room for parents to stand by and watch their children in class. So unfortunately, your adorable kiddo cannot take the class alone. A parent must also purchase a ticket and take the class as well - but I promise you this - it's super fun for all involved!

What will I bring home?

By the end of the class, you will have created a set of gorgeous cookies ready to dry for 24 - 48 hours in their own box. I’ll send you an Amazon link with a list of the tools we used in class so that you can recreate these cookies at home. And of course, you’ll have new skills, memories, and fun!

Can I sign up as an individual or as a group?

You can sign up either as an individual, with a friend, or with a whole group. The more the merrier! We are limited to a total of 25 seats per class, so definitely sign up ASAP!

Where are the classes located?

The class will be held at Chicken Salad Chick located in Westerville, Ohio at 687 Worthington Road, Westerville Ohio, 43082.

Signed up for a class but can't make it?

:( We understand that life happens so that’s why we allow you to cancel up to 2 days before the class. You can always transfer your spot to a friend though (and what a nice friend you are). Any cancelation after the 2 days will roll you into the next upcoming class. Please read below for our COVID-19 Cancelation Policies.

Things to Bring

Wondering what you need to bring for a fun and successful cookie decorating class? Nothing is required, but here are a few things that can enhance your experience:

An apron! Royal icing can get a little messy, so bring an apron to keep things clean. Bonus points if it’s cute—I’ll definitely be asking where you got it!

Your glasses! We’ll have a reference slide deck to guide you, so if you need glasses for up-close details, bring them along.

Your phone! I love when students snap photos throughout class—capture your progress and your beautifully decorated cookies! 📸🍪

A great attitude! Cookie decorating is fun but can also be a little tricky. Patience and a positive mindset make all the difference!

About Your Brooke Bakes Cookies and Cakes

Who doesn’t love getting out and doing something fun while also eating delicious cookies!? That’s what Brooke Bakes is all about!

These classes are based in Westerville, Ohio and cater to the beginner cookier or people just looking to have fun learning a new skill. Whether you just want a fun date, a girls-or-guys-night-out or just want to explore what cookie decorating is on your own - we have a seat for you.

For our classes, all you will need to bring is yourself (and an apron if you are a messy decorator), and I’ll take care of the rest. Oh – and bring eyeglasses so you can see the instructional PowerPoint if your eyesight is anything like mine. You will get a set of pre-baked cookies (pretty tasty if I do say so myself) as well as all the supplies you will need to decorate them during the 2 hour class. You will leave the class with your very own box of your very own newly decorated cookies!

A little about me – I’ve been baking sugar cookies since March 2022 – and I’ve not put down a scribe since (don’t know what a scribe is? I’ll teach you in class!). My favorite cookie themes to decorate are Christamas and Valentine's – but I can do pretty much anything if icing’s involved. I love what I do –who wouldn’t love making cookies?! It’s the sweetest job in the world!

Oh yeah - I have classes throughout the year which highlight different themes so make sure to sign up for our newsletter so you can get in on the cookie action!

Cancelation / Refund / Sick Policy

Note - our classes no longer require masks for vaccinated individuals. Our classes follow the current recommendation by the ohio government and health organizations.

Class Masking Policy:

You will not be required to wear a mask throughout the class; however, you can choose to wear a mask if you'd like! I'll provide hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes for attendees. Each station is disinfected along with the venue before and after your event.

Showing Symptoms:

If you’re sick prior to the 2 day refund cutoff, you can cancel for a full refund! And might we say thank you for quarantining.

Showing Symptoms After 2 Days Out:

For any sickness symptoms prior to your class’s start time but after the 2 day refund policy, please email us before your class’s start time, and we’ll roll you into an upcoming class!

You Don't Show Up or Email Prior To Class:

If I do not hear from you before your class’s start time, and you do not show up for class, I won’t be able to offer you a refund or roll you into the next class even if you're sick. So please reach out before class if you’re feeling sick!

DIY / Add-On Kits

Want to share the fun of cookie decorating with a child or friend? Grab a Cookie Class DIY Kit! These kits include everything we use in class, so you can enjoy the experience from home. Plus, each kit comes with a QR code to access the class PowerPoint, giving you step-by-step decorating instructions to follow along at your own pace!

DIY kits are prepared before class and will be ready for pickup at the end of the scheduled class.—just take yours home and start decorating!

How Long to Kits Last?

Your kit’s freshness depends on how you store it:• Icing: Can last up to a week or longer, depending on storage.• Cookies: Heat-sealed for freshness and best enjoyed within a week. For longer storage, freeze them to keep them fresh!

For the best taste and decorating experience, I recommend using your kit within the first week after taking it home.

Allergen Disclaimer / Class Cancelation Policy / Weather Policy / Fees Disclaimer

Allergens: Heads up – these cookies include the following ingredients: flour, sugar, butter, egg, vanilla extract, almond extract.

Please note – these cookies are prepared in a kitchen that also bakes with common, known allergens: Nuts, Milk

Please consider your allergies before registering.

Class Cancelation Policy: Classes may be canceled at the discretion of me, the event host. This rarely happens – but in that extremely rare event that it does, you’ll receive a 100% refund including your Eventbrite fees.

Classes with an attendance below 6 participates will be canceled. Don’t be sad! You can either get a class credit for a future class (along with my apologies), or a full refund! I’ll let you know if your class has low attendance 2 days before the event is canceled so that you can bring a friend (hint hint) or find other plans for that day.

Weather Policy: Sometimes Jack Frost doesn’t play well with cookie class schedules, and Mother Nature seems to be takin’ notes. In the event of inclement weather, I’ll contact you with options – these may differ depending on the weather event but rest assured – we’ll figure something out!

Eventbrite Fees: Your ticket price includes your ticket fees; however, Eventbrite does not refund its fees. If you cancel your ticket and request a refund prior to the cancelation window expiring, I’ll happily give you a refund less the Eventbrite fee – since I don’t get this fee back either. Eventbrite keeps it regardless of whether you show up or cancel. I know – I hate it too!
