Prepare to encounter some friends with tails and scales as our hike facilitator takes you around Cascade Springs looking for amphibians and reptiles at the ephemeral frog pong and the beloved waterfall feature. This is a City Nature Challenge event.


JULY 29

Daisy Mugford || Culture & History Enthusiast || Thrive Outside Coordinator || WAWA

Learn how nature, race, and capitalism intersect on this interpretive hike through a civil war landmark and what used to be a premier resort for the Atlanta politicians of the Reconstruction Era. End your hike with a guided meditation/ heal-the-land practice to energetically nurture and reclaim land that has endured exploitation throughout history. Meditation will be guided by Barbara Faison.

Barbara J. Faison is Certified Meditation Guide, author, and professional voice talent who shares practical ways to help you struggle less and enjoy life more.

Spot native and non-native species along the trails at Cascade Springs. Come with your favorite plant ID app downloaded to determine some of the seasonal plants in the old-growth forest.


DECEMBER 30

Cascade Springs Nature Preserve hosts several eco-communities, a large population of native magnolia trees, and two natural springs. Come and observe the features of Cascade Springs that make it a true demonstration of the Piedmont Region of Georgia.
