Join PPBEP and Ocean Hour for our 5th Annual Mardi Gras Bead Tree Cleanup Event on Sunday, February 15th from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Grab your krewe and get ready to compete to collect the most beads (pounds/per person) for a chance to win some swag! Due to Reimagine Palafox construction we'll be moving operations to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Plaza on North Palafox, but don't worry, there will still be plenty of beads!
Staff will provide safety vests, grabbers and buckets, but feel free to bring your own as supplies are limited. Pro-Tip: Boat Hooks are the best for grabbing beads out of trees!
Have extra beads you want to recycle? Stop by and drop them off during our event between 10:00am-12:00 at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Plaza. Collected beads are donated to The Arc Gateway where they will be cleaned and repackaged for use in future parades.
NO TRAINING REQUIRED. Groups are welcome to join! Volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Volunteers 16-17 must have waiver with parent/guardian permission.
