The Long Beach Filipino Festival (LBFF) returns for its 5th year! Featuring curated food and retail vendors, including Full Send BBQ and Illa Manilla, plus live entertainment, this annual event is sure to be a family fun-filled day honoring Filipino and Filipino-American communities in Long Beach and beyond. This year’s celebration will take place once again at the Jackie Robinson Academy Field located at 2750 Pine Avenue on Saturday, May 4th from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.
The festival will showcase diverse entertainment acts, including special performances from headliners CRSB, Kaba Modern, and Junior New System. CRSB is a Vallejo-based duo known for blending island-reggae with Bay Area hyphy together with R&B and hip-hop. Kaba Modern, a pioneering hip-hop dance group that started in 1992 at UC Irvine, had members Cindy Minowa, Lawrence Kao, Jia Huang, Tony Tran, Yuri Tag, and Mike Song finish 3rd overall on Season 1 of America's Best Dance Crew. Gaining stardom from America's Got Talent, Junior New System is an all-male hip-hop dance group popular for their acrobatics in high heels.
Also included in this year’s entertainment lineup are: comedians Andrew Orolfo, John Liu, and Rey Cabato; dance groups The Broadway Jazzers, CSULB PAC Culture, and Touch of Ke’Aloha; musical bands The Mellow Dees, Mid-Century Modern, and Zos!mo; vocalists Dylin Rodrigo, Madima, Rafaella Angelica, and Romaliza; hip-hop artists Darius Jakob and Russ Cosón; Filipino martial arts groups Kali Kollective and North Shore Martial Arts; magician group The Magikeros; and spoken-word group Steady featuring members of the Pakaraguian Kulintang Ensemble.
Musical accompaniment will be provided by DJ Krissfader and DJ Cruize, and video graphics will be provided by visual artist Sick Delicious.
The event will be hosted by comedians Erick Esteban and Erik Escobar, actress/singer/model Shekinah Austria, and LBFF Vice President Jun Aglipay.
Themed “May the 4th”-- a nod to the popular movie franchise, Star Wars --- the Long Beach Filipino Festival summons the force within you! We are thrilled to have this year’s celebration land on the beloved 4th of May! Attendees are welcomed and encouraged to don Star Wars attire for $1.00 off admission at the door. Presale tickets and door-price admission are $5.00 at the entrance on 27th Street. Children 10 and under and Seniors 65 and up attend for free. Jackie Robinson Academy is located off Metro A “Blue” Line at Willow Street station where attendees can enjoy free parking.
Long Beach Filipino Festival, a registered 501C3 non-profit organization, continuously works towards strengthening the local community by donating funds and resources towards the ongoing revitalization of the Filipino town project.
We will also unveil the first Filipino cultural-themed mural in the Westside area of Long Beach along the side of A&F Market, one of the oldest community markets featuring Filipino and Asian foods, located on Santa Fe Avenue and Willow Street. The mural will celebrate traditional, pre-colonial Filipino tattoo patterns and is in collaboration with non-profit Long Beach Fresh and local muralists Jamuna Priti and Amy Tanaka.
