5Rhythms® Thursday class with Julia MercurioWhat is 5Rhythms®?
The 5Rhythms® is a simple, powerful somatic movement meditation that anyone can practise - no matter of age, size, or physical ability. There are no steps to follow, no choreography to learn, no way to do it wrong. The only requirement is a breathing body and a curious mind.
Gabrielle Roth’s dynamic practice helps us to ease out of the head and into our body, connecting us deeper to our authenticity and our body’s inherent wisdom and power.
What is the class about?
In this open class you’ll be able to show up just as you are with all the parts that make you at this very moment. It’s a space in which you can connect to your body, heart, mind, soul and spirit.
The class usually consists of a warm up, a sharing circle, teaching input and moving through the 5 energies of Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical and Stillness (which together form a „Wave“). The teaching will vary from class to class, giving gentle impulses, while leaving plenty of space for your own somatic exploration and immersion in your own dance.
We practice in a group setting for authentic self-expression, self-discovery, interpersonal connectedness, and personal healing and growth.
About the teacher
Julia Mercurio is is a certified 5Rhythms® teacher with over 12 years of dancing experience. She has trained with Gabrielle Roth’s son Jonathan Horan, head of 5Rhythms Global in New York. With sensitivity and well chosen music, Julia creates space to free the body and explore the deeper layers of the soul. She holds a Masters of Art in Intercultural communication, and has trained in different somatic practices, including CoreSoma. The space she holds offers a journey through different energies - from nourishing, to focussed, over ecstatic to playful and sacred. A core theme of her teaching is how to truly fall in love with ourselves and how to use embodiment as a natural resource for healing.
„Julia’s guidance is gentle and inspiring. It feels like a safe space to explore my own movement and the connection to others. I love her colorful and well composed music sets.“ - Balazs, participant
