5K for Myanmar

A 5K to Support Myanmar

Whether in-person in Atlanta or virtually from anywhere in the world, run (or walk, stroll, climb, jog) a 5K to help support the people of Myanmar. All proceeds raised through the event will go to support Mutual Aid Myanmar, which works to distribute supplies to the Myanmar people suffering under a brutal military regime.

Atlanta

If you're in Atlanta and would like to run in-person with others, the 5k will take place at 8am on Saturday, June 26 on the Beltline's Eastside Trail. We will start and end at the Old Fourth Ward Skate Park. It will be a great opportunity to show your support for Myanmar and learn more about what's happening there.

Around the World

If you'd like to participate from anywhere else in the world, we welcome you to participate from anywhere in the world. Run a 5K anywhere in your area and then post a picture with the hashtag #5kformyanmar This will help raise awareness about the people of Myanmar's ongoing struggle.

The Situation in Myanmar

On February 1 2021, the Myanmar military overthrew the democratically elected government. Since then, the military has been systemically killing protestors, detaining others, and restricting the rights of all Myanmar people, including their ability to communicate with the outside world. Every day people there are in need of our support to continue their opposition to the military and to meet basic needs like food, healthcare, and shelter.

Mutual Aid Myanmar

All proceeds will go toward supporting Mutual Aid Myanmar, an organization that works with partner organizations in Myanmar to ensure that 100% of donations for directly to those who need it in Myanmar. Learn more about them here.

T-Shirts are available both for those who participate in Atlanta and virtually. Shirts were designed by Decide Brand, a local Atlanta creator.
