Shaping 5G Networks and Paving the Way for 6G Integration.
About this Event
WELCOME TO THE 5G BRIEFING SPECIAL HEALTH
Since the publishing of the European Health Data Space act and lately the EU-AI-act the virtualization of medical services has experienced a massive boost. Delivery of medical services is less and less confi ned to hospitals or GP practices but healthcare may be delivered anyway at any time and individual health monitoring is enabled through new communication strategies and services (5G and 6G). Latest research by McKinsey suggests that by use of virtualiszation strategies and mobile connectivity up to 20-25% of nursing time could be saved in hospital environments.
The use of 5G slicing and groundbreaking 6G technologies may provide enhanced fl exibility for patients and service providers alike. Mobile medical devices might be connected through safe and secure critical infrastructures anywhere and anyhow. Vital parameters, digital images and other clinical data might be processed by AI based algorithms. Specifi c AI models might provide safe and secure identity management. Novel 6G services will enable sensing and network management.
All this will provide an entirely new clinical service experience and will enhance effectiveness and effi ciency and will enhance the user experience.
However, new standards and technologies have to be developed, validated and embedded into clinical workfl ows. In order to support these processes over years to come the 6G Health Association has been formed and will be presented today.
Aims of the conference
The conference is dedicated to scientifi c discussions and the exchange of ideas on the advancing digitalization of the healthcare sector. The focus is on the challenges and innovative solutions, particularly the need for a tailored 5G healthcare network that, through network slicing, ensures the secure, EU-compliant, and widespread transmission of medical data (EHDSL). A key goal is to strengthen a healthcare industry lobby that will actively participate in the development and standardization of 6G to ensure the sector's specifi c needs are incorporated into future 6G standards.
Target Audience
The conference is aimed at key players from:
- Healthcare sector: Medical professionals, hospital managers, healthcare providers
- Tech companies: Developers of network technologies and infrastructure
- Regulatory bodies: EU representatives, national health authorities
- Academia: Experts in telecommunications, data transmission, and medical innovation
Conference Focus: Key Aspects of 5G and 6G in Healthcare
- Secure data transmission: Ensuring secure and EU-compliant health data exchange within Health Data Spaces (Health Data Spaces – into the great white open).
- Real-time diagnostics: Leveraging ultra-fast and reliable 5G connections to enable real-time diagnostics, aiming to save 15% of human resources in hospitals through connected devices (Saving 15% of HR in hospitals through connected devices anywhere, anyhow, anytime).
- FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources): Integration of standardized interfaces to improve interoperability in healthcare.
- Central German Health Data Space: Presentation of a pilot project in Saxony, where hospitals are interconnected through a 5G-slicing-based health data network (A truly European Health Data Slice in Saxony and central Germany – The MIG).
- Ecosystem growth through slicing: Building ecosystems in healthcare by implementing network slicing.
- Connectivity of medical devices: Current state and outlook on the networking of medical devices.
- Post-quantum cryptography: Discussion on the security and implementation of post-quantum cryptographic methods in mobile device communication.
- Green eHealth: Focus on energy effi ciency and sustainability in healthcare.
