Since 1965, people that love fall colors, fantastic views and a great hike in the woods gather in Adams at the base of Mount Greylock on Columbus Day for the annual Greylock Ramble. It's the ultimate way to experience autumn in the Berkshires. Free shuttles take hikers from downtown Adams to and from the base of the Cheshire Harbor Trail from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Using the shuttle is strongly recommended, as parking is very limited. Shuttles start and return to the Adams Visitor Center at 3 Hoosac Street, Adams, MA. Shuttles will take hikers to the Greylock Glen Outdoor Center from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and return hikers to the Visitor Center until 4 p.m. SHUTTLE RIDERS PLEASE NOTE: Although leashed pets are permitted on the trail, they are not allowed on the shuttles.
Tips
The Greylock Ramble takes place on the Cheshire Harbor Trail which is the gentlest path to the summit. However, the round trip is 6.6 miles, moderately strenuous and takes four to five hours. It can be significantly colder and windier at the summit, please dress according. Leashed pets are permitted on the hike, but not on the shuttles. Certificates of Accomplishment will be available for free at the summit!
