About this Event
Umstead State Park is a real gem in the middle of the Raleigh Metro Area. Due to the close proximity to RDU Airport we will hear the occasional jet overfly the park, but it is still delightful. The Company Mill Trail is a moderate hiking trail, and we will hike to the Crabtree Creek Bridge which will give us a resting spot near whitewater before returning to finish the etimated two mile hike. We will start at 10:00 AM but please consider that the parking lot can be a challenge so you may want to arrive early. If we need overflow parking, we can use the Bass Pro Shop across I-40 and ferry folks over. Pre-Hike briefing and safety message will be at 10:00 and hike will start at 10:15AM.
Be sure to wear appropriate footwear, some of the path can have tricky footing. I will monitor the weather and will cancel if heavy rain is possible.
