"Hudson River Tunnel – Then and Now"
Presented by:
James Morrison
Senior Advisor
Gateway Development Commission
Gateway Development Commission Senior Advisor Jim Morrison’s lecture, “Hudson River Tunnel: Then and Now,” will provide a historical framework for understanding the largest and most urgent rail infrastructure project in America.
When the North River Tunnels opened for service in 1910, they were state of the art for their time. Today, GDC is undertaking the first trans-Hudson tunneling project in over a century, with much to learn about the differences and similarities in the two tunnels’ alignments, construction technology and methods, geotechnical challenges, and more.
Mr. Morrison will then share a timely snapshot of what lies ahead for the Hudson Tunnel Project, with valuable insights into the future of infrastructure delivery in the 21st century.
