TUESDAY 26th at 7-30 pm screening of ‘A FORTUNATE MAN’ - a BBC film from the 1970’s following the life of a doctor in the Forest. It features many foresters and used Soudley School for some scenes. Followed by a very recent film ‘MUDLARK’ which used the Dean Heritage Centre’s forester’s cottage in some scenes. It is a bitter sweet story set in Victorian Wales drawing on Welsh folklore, and tells the story of an orphan who scavenges on river banks and is taken in by the widow of a deceased salmon fisherman. PLUS: the writer of ‘Mudlark’ will present the film and answer questions. Entrance £1.
A display of photographs and original documents will be in the hall telling the story of the original Memorial Hall, and the funding of the 1975 Village Hall by Soudley villagers and others.
Unfortunately, the Royal Forest of Dean Orchestra is now unable to play for us on Friday 29th as planned.
Then, Sunday 31st is the annual FLOWER & PRODUCE SHOW - and auction to close the week. A full schedule of classes for entries and details is on the web site, and is available on line and in shops, and venues locally.
