This November marks fifty years since the tragic night when the Edmund Fitzgerald, a mighty freighter and proud workhorse of the Great Lakes, was lost beneath the icy waters of Lake Superior. Twenty-nine brave souls perished in the storm, their final journey ending just 15 miles from safe harbor at Whitefish Bay.To honor their memory and the enduring legacy of those who sail the Great Lakes, we invite you to gather for an evening of remembrance, storytelling, and community.
The commemoration will include:
A solemn bell-ringing ceremony, with 29 tolls for each man on the Edmund Fitzgerald around the time of it's sinking (6:15pm CST).
