5% Friday: Skagit County Meals on Wheels

On 5% Friday, you shop and together we give 5% of Co-op sales on one Friday a month to a non-profit, charitable community organization. On Friday, January 23rd, we're donating 5% of the day's sales to Skagit County Meals on Wheels.
For almost 50 years, the Skagit County Meals on Wheels program has been dedicated to ensuring that no senior goes hungry or isolated in Skagit County. The incidence of malnutrition is prevalent in the senior population due to factors such as limited income, isolation, chronic disease, and mobility. The delivery of hot, healthy meals and regular wellness checks helps seniors remain in their homes, promoting independence and dignity and preventing malnutrition.
How Will Your Shopping Trip Support Skagit County Meals on Wheels?
Funds from 5% Friday will be used to purchase nutritious food for the Meals on Wheels program. Each meal costs just over $10, and with increased demand, the program needs more resources to continue providing daily meals. Your support will help ensure that every senior in need receives a healthy meal, keeping our community strong and well-fed.
