Whether you can kick up to a handstand in the middle of the room, against the wall, or if you’re en route to get there, We offer you this handstand intensive training to reach a high level of control and confidence in your skills, regardless of your level.The focus is to build a solid foundation, build confidence and understanding of skills and build your own practice.
Meet The Trainer
Sainaa’s life began in Mongolia 1972. He trained as an elite gymnast and after winning the national championship for two years running he retired from competitive gymnastics at age 18.
For next ten years he worked as a multi skilled circus performer touring the world with the Sukhbaatar troupe, circus Krone, Blackpool tower circus and many other world famous circuses, festivals and gala shows all around the world. He specialised in tumbling, banquine, hand-balancing and swinging trapeze.
In the early 2000s Sainaa’s career led him to teaching. He settled in London where he combined adult gymnastics coaching at Sport Centres with a key role at UK’s most prestigious circus school: National Centre for Circus Arts. Since 2004 he has been responsible for all National Centre for Circus Arts degree students handstand and acrobatic technique.
Since 2012 Sainaa has been running London School of Hand Balance teaching people from all backgrounds gymnasts, circus performers, fitness coaches and yoga teachers and students.
Training Modules
Day 1
First day of training we will focus on foundation work, especially alignment work against the wall and on the floor progressing into L shape handstands against the wall and in the middle of the room. All exercises are aimed at improving your awareness in handstand, which we believe is the most important aspect of improving your balance and technique in handstand.
Day 2
Second day of the training we will focus on tuck handstand variations and depending on participants ability the trainer will adjust exercises accordingly. First half of the day we will be working with partners and against the wall aiming at improving your position in the tuck handstand. Second half of the day participants will be encouraged to work on their own to improve their balance and control by practising tuck handstand variations.
Day 3
Day 3 we will focus on straddle handstand. We will start with handstand alignment work to refine your technique in straight handstand then moving onto star handstand to prepare for straddle handstand variations. There will be drills that would help participants understand correct alignment for straddle handstand against the wall and on the floor. All exercises are aimed at increasing awareness and control in the handstand.
Day 4
We will focus on transitions in all shapes, tuck, straddle and pike handstand. There will be dynamic transitions. Second half of the day you will start learning one arm prep exercises and drills.
Day 5
Start with kick up to handstand variations and explore mounts to handstand. Continue with one arm prep exercises and drills against the wall and middle of the room.
