5-Day Bodypaint Workshop

This bodypaint workshop is hosted by CMC Makeup School and taught by Anja Yamaji and Breanna Cooke, who are known for their award-winning body paint designs. They will teach you the necessary skills to develop into a successful body painter. Find out how professionals stock and organize their body paint makeup kits. Master the proper usage of brush, airbrush and sponge. Work with a variety of industry standard paints, pasties, mediums, stencils, adhesives, body bling, etc. You will learn usage of color, placement of design elements, and how to create depth with highlight & shadow. We will also discuss time management and business opportunities as a freelance artist.

Class format: Combination of demonstration, discussion, and hands-on practice. You will follow the instructors, step-by-step, to re-create the looks in real time.

Daily classes run from 9:00am-5:00pm.

Bodypaint Curriculum, Day 1: Introduction to Bodypainting

Instructor: Anja Yamaji

Kit insights, product knowledge, color theory, DO’s and DON’Ts, introduction to airbrush. Learn a variety of different styles & techniques applied in patchwork across the body.

Bodypaint Curriculum, Day 2: Creature/Character Look - Bodypaint Cosplay

Instructor: Breanna Cooke

Kit insights, Part 2. Learn how to identify the key features and textures necessary to convey a character’s unique identity. You will learn painting techniques to exaggerate or alter features, how to use highlights and shadows to create illusions, and how to create different character skin textures.

Bodypaint Curriculum, Day 3: Sugarskull Look

Instructor: Anja Yamaji

With the growing awareness and popularity of Dia de los Muertos makeup looks, it’s important for body painters to understand the history and culture behind the Catrina or sugar skull look. Learn how to paint the core design elements of a classic sugar skull look and learn ways to add your own style.

Bodypaint Curriculum, Day 4: Realistic Clothing Techniques

Instructor: Breanna Cooke

Learn how to plan out a painted clothing design and study reference images. Follow along with the instructor and learn how to create folds, fabric texture and small details that help create the illusion of clothing.

Bodypaint Curriculum, Day 5: Photoshoot Day

Instructors: Anja Yamaji & Breanna Cooke

Bring everything you have learned together in your own bodypaint design. Instructors will be there assisting you with bringing your vision to life.

Students are required to bring their own model each day. If needed, CMC can provide a model for $50/day.
