- Decorated: Floats should be decorated with festive elements that enhance the theme. This could include streamers, balloons, flags, props, costumes, and creative use of materials.
- Interactive: Floats should encourage audience participation in some way. This could involve waving flags, handing out small candies (pre-packaged for safety), playing music, or having engaging visuals.
- Safety Focused: Floats must prioritize the safety of participants and spectators. This includes ensuring no loose objects that could fall off, clear walkways for people walking alongside, and proper securing of all decorations.
- Self-Propelled or Towed Safely: Floats must either be self-propelled (walkers pushing) or towed by a vehicle with a licensed driver. Towed floats must have a secure hitch and safety chains to prevent detachment. Decorated vehicles or side by sides will not be considered floats.
