Our Annual 4th of July Hike is back! This event is pre-registration only and typically sells out, so be sure to call us at 770-389-7801 to reserve your space! $25/ person, Ages 10+.Looking for an unique way to celebrate July 4th weekend? Then join the staff and volunteers for a once a year opportunity at Panola Mountain State Park. Hike Panola Mountain to watch the sunset over downtown Atlanta, then wait as the fireworks from Decatur, and Peachtree City to Stone Mountain etch across the sky. The hike is approximately 1 mile round trip and is considered moderately strenuous due to the uneven and rocky terrain.
What to Bring:
Plenty of water, sturdy hiking shoes, and a flashlight. Blankets are ok to bring to sit on. Chairs will not be permitted. Hiking sticks are also allowed, but cannot have a metal tip. Fireworks, including sparklers, are strictly prohibited as it is illegal to set off fireworks at any GA State Park.
We strongly encourage guests to arrive 25 minutes prior to 8PM, as guests will then have to travel in their vehicle to the hike departure location. Late arrivals will not be able to join once the caravan departs.
A maximum of 75 participants will be allowed to ensure protection of the summit environment. Must call the Nature Center at 770-389-7801 to register.
