FREE ADMISSION - The 3rd Annual Baton Rouge Soul Food Festival www.brsoulfoodfest.com will take place
Sat. & Sun., June 26 – 27, 2021 from 11:00am to 8:00pm each day. This FREE to the public, 2-day event will be held at Riverfront Plaza, 300 S. River Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70802. This Festival is presented by the Henry Turner Jr. Listening Room Museum Foundation, a Baton Rouge based nonprofit. Wildly successful as
a food festival, the Soul Food Festival also showcases live bands, with a concentration on soul, gospel, R&B, dance troupes & comedy. A Vendor Village with clothing, jewelry, arts & crafts and a Food Court with delicious soul & other types of food and drinks. Last year’s Festival was widely praised for the wide diversity of soul food it showcased. This year’s Festival presents an even greater selection of soul food.
The festival also has a judged Soul Food Cooking Competition in which vendors can enter at no charge, if they choose to participate. Categories are Entrees, Vegetables & Side Dishes, Breads & Desserts, Appetizers & Soups, and Beverages & Ices.
Headlining this year’s Festival is one of Louisiana’s favorite bands, Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor. Additional performers should include the Listening Room All-Stars featuring gospel/jazz singer Wyanda Paul, spoken word artist ‘Nspire, blues/jazz singer-songwriter Larry “LZ” Dillon, blues rapper Lee Tyme, R&B singer Xavie Shorts and comedian Eddie “Cool” Deemer. Past performers from around the country have included Grammy nominee Kenny Neal, ‘the King and Queen of the Gut Bucket Blues,’ SmokeHouse Porter and Miss Mamie, Louisiana Red Hot Records’ Lilli Lewis, Memphis based Soul & Parliament and Texas-based Christian singer Kara Nicole Robinson.
