Three years ago, we started the Windber Hotel Yappy Hour in memory of Cathy Klucik and her love for animals. In the first three years, we raised $18,000 for the Somerset county humane society, thanks to generous community support and donations. The last few years have seen an overwhelming increase in discarded and neglected animals. Shelters are full, and unwanted pets are dumped off to fend for themselves, including litters of unwanted puppies and kittens. This year, we will be helping the Somerset County Humane Society and the Seven Hearts Project, a local all-volunteer nonprofit whose mission is to reduce the community’s homeless pet population and improve the lives of animals and those who care for them. The Seven Hearts Project organizes no-cost spay/neuter and rabies vaccine clinics.
In just seven years, one pair of unspayed/unneutered cats and their offspring can produce 420,000 cats.
In just six years, one pair of unspayed/unneutered dogs and their offspring can produce 67,000 dogs.
Since 2023, their spay/neuter clinics have assisted 263 animals, potentially preventing over 30 million unwanted or discarded animals.
We hope you will consider donating a basket and attending the event this year. If you’d like to donate a basket, drop it off at the Windber Hotel by Thursday, February 13th. Please attach your name, number, and address to the outside of the basket so we know who to thank.
Basket raffle tickets will be sold in the hotel lobby from noon to 7:30 p.m. The drawing will begin at 8 p.m.
-You do not need to be present to win! Even if you can’t stay, stop in and try your luck on some baskets.
-Bo & Tucker Moore will be providing entertainment starting at 9 pm.
-No donation is too small. We want to make this the biggest one yet!
Thanks for all you do for the animals.
