About this Event
At age 20, Rick Chapman bought Chuck Wagon from the Donovan family in 1983. Over the ensuing decades, he nurtured the Lakeshore Drive eatery into a treasured institution, beloved locally and by an ever-growing fan base of summertime visitors from across the nation.
June 17, 2020 marked Rick's 37th year as Ludington's most beloved "pizza guy" - a title he bore with pride and maintained always at the highest level, earning the restaurant a fiercely devoted clientele. Rick was a savvy, respected and personable businessman embraced by locals as one of their own, and by seasonal visitors as their reliable vacation-time connection.
Sadly, Rick passed away on July 19, 2020. He is greatly missed by his family, friends, and community. In 2021, friends and family joined together to create the Rick Chapman Legacy League, a Michigan non-profit with a mission to provide scholarships and grants to young entrepreneurs looking to start, grow, or purchase a business here in Mason County.
In it's first three years, the Rick Chapman Legacy League raised over $48,000. We provided 8 scholarships at West Shore Community College. A fund at the community foundation has been opened in his name. We are will be announcing the first small business grant this summer.
All proceeds from this golf outing will support our efforts.
