Join us for the 4th Oak Island unofficial Beach Lantern Parade! What is a lantern parade? It’s a community gathering at dusk to display decorative paper lanterns that are lit up by battery operated lights (no open flames allowed). We will meet up and organize at the beach at the Oak Island Pier. Once it gets dark, we will walk east together from the pier to just past the McGlamery St access and back. This end of the island has plenty of beach to walk on. You have from now until then to use your Google skills to research how to make a paper lantern or buy one pre-made. You’ll need to add a bamboo stick or something similar to carry it and add lights insides to illuminate it! It’s best to wear dark clothing during our walk, so your lantern gets all of the attention it deserves! Share your ideas on this page!
This event is for all ages to enjoy! Pets should be spectators and not participants. The more children the better!
Stay tuned for more updates!
