Our 4th annual Hiking for the Homeless will be held at the Spruce Creek Park and Campground this year. BUT, there's an additional opportunity for you to experience with us this time. CAMPING! And it's FREE! Before I explain the camping portion of the event, let's talk about the details for the hiking. ...
Hikers will walk a dirt trail around the lovely Spruce Creek Park that is partially shaded up to 3 times to complete the 3k, (almost 2 miles). All are encouraged to join in even if you are only able to do one lap!
While you are hiking, you will stop at designated stations to receive an item that will be placed in the drawstring backpack that will be provided to you at the start line. As each lap is completed, you will drop off your backpack at the start/finish line and collect another empty backpack to fill. (multiple laps are not required to participate)
These filled backpacks will later be delivered to the homeless by Christine's Blankets throughout 6 neighboring counties! 😁
No registration fee whatsoever for hiking or camping! 😱 This is a free educational experience and awareness event, (although, donations are always 😁).
We would GREATLY appreciate it if you would click "going" here on Facebook if you do intend to come. It really does help us in planning for supplies and food.
Refreshments will be provided. Maybe even a cookout 🤔
Specially designed Hiking for the Homeless T-shirts and hats will be available for a suggested donation.
All ages are welcome to attend! In fact there's a playground for the kiddos.
If you're in a motorized chair, you can join too! The trail is a hard dirt road. The only issue would be puddles if it has recently rained.
Hikers will meet at the pavilion next to the bathrooms and playground at 11:00 on Saturday the 26th.
⛺Now, for the camping portion 😁
We're very excited to add this option!! We have reserved the entire campground that includes 15 campsites that will allow for 6 individuals per site. This is primitive camping, no pop up campers or RVs. Tents only. No vehicles allowed at the campsites other than for the purposes of loading and unloading. Parking is close by however. No glass containers allowed.
Camping will begin on Friday April 25th at 2:00 pm and end on Sunday April 27th at noon. There are restrooms at the campground. There's at least one campsite that is very close to the bathroom and has a paved sidewalk. If you require this particular spot please let me know ASAP so that I can save this one just for you. There are 2 others that are close as well but do not have a paved walkway.
I need everyone to let us know ASAP if you will be joining us for this portion of the event as well. Although 6 individuals are allowed per spot, I know that many would prefer to have their own individual spot. Especially families.

Please bring your own supplies, including the tent, food and water.
We will have scheduled events during the weekend for you, however you're not obligated to participate in all of them.
The park offers, camping, additional hiking, and fishing.There is also a boat and kayak launch. Please call the park for additional information.
We'll have a fire going Friday and Saturday night. Bring s'mores or anything else you want to burn up 😄
