About this Event
4th Annual Black Moses Freedom Festival (BMFF) June 6-8, 2025 in Beaufort County. This is a Heritage, Health, and Wellness Festival celebrating the Spirit, Ingenuity, and Liberation of African Americans and people of color around the globe. Keeping the spirit of Harriet Tubman alive in Beaufort County is of utmost importance because of all the hundreds of enslaved captives freed by her hands. Harriet freed over 750, right here in our Beautiful Beaufort County. As a community we should be educated about this proud history, and Harriet ‘Araminta’ Tubman should be celebrated as one of our personal and local heroes. No other State, City, or County can boast such a significant victory as one of the most famous successful missions of her legacy.
Ecotourism and agritourism are vital components of the Black Moses Freedom Festival, as they connect the celebration to the rich natural and agricultural heritage of Beaufort, SC. By highlighting sustainable practices and the region’s unique ecosystems, ecotourism promotes environmental awareness and encourages visitors to appreciate the Lowcountry’s natural beauty while preserving it for future generations. Agritourism, on the other hand, emphasizes the area’s agricultural traditions, including farming methods that have been passed down through generations of African American communities. Together, these forms of tourism not only boost the local economy but also honor the cultural and environmental legacy of freedom fighters like Harriet Tubman, inspiring a deeper connection to the land and its history.
Our future goals for this festival include:
1. A parade in her honor
2. Continue to new and innovative ways to engage the community in health and wellness initiatives. I.e; Vegan food options, kayaking, yoga.
3. Construction of a Gazebo at Combahee River site for locals and tourists
4. Continue to build business relationships with other Stakeholders to improve the overall wellness in the community. I.e. Financ workshops, mental health and wellness initiatives, economic sustainability through opportunities.
