It's the 48th Annual Freedom House Santa Claus Parade Presented by GrandBridge Energy. This will be Freedom House’s 2nd year as the organizational lead of one of Brantford’s most treasured celebrations. As is tradition, the parade will be held at 6pm on the last Saturday of November; November 30th. Dave Carrol, the lead Pastor of Freedom House has been a part of this parade in many different ways over the years. “I’ve been going to the Santa Claus Parade in Brantford since I was a boy. I’ve participated by riding on floats, then creating floats, and even broadcasting the parade on Rogers 20. But having Freedom House organize the parade and help our community welcome in the Christmas season, is next level amazing.”
This year’s Parade theme is the 150th Anniversary of the invention of the telephone. Brian Wood, Curator of the Bell Homestead says, “On July 26, 1874, at his parent’s home in Brantford, a young Alexander Graham Bell sat in a spot he called his “dreaming place” and grasped the principle of his most famous invention, the telephone. 2024 marks the 150th anniversary of this world-changing invention and the Bell Homestead National Historic Site is thrilled that the theme of this year’s Brantford Santa Claus Parade celebrates this milestone and honors Alexander Graham Bell’s legacy. Happy Christmas, Mr. Bell!”
Mayor Kevin Davis says, “As we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the telephone, it’s particularly special for Brantford, where this ground-breaking invention first came to life. The telephone has been a powerful symbol of connection and innovation, and this year’s Santa Claus Parade will not only bring holiday cheer but also honour the ingenuity that began right here in our community. I’m thrilled to see the organizers commemorate such an important milestone in Brantford’s history, and I look forward to the festive spirit and sense of togetherness this celebration will bring.”
“We can’t wait to see how the different floats incorporate the telephone, from today's innovations to what Christmas might have looked like 150 years ago,” said Carrol.
