Urban Silence is the theme of this year's edition!
On this tour we will traverse Neukölln, a neighborhood that is anything but silent; we'll take a peek into the many networks coalescing the local art scene to international communities, and look into recurring themes of paucity and transformation - from socio-economic experience to artistic practices.
Starting at HilbertRaum, we will survey a new group exhibition opening on June 28th with artists from Mexico, the US and Germany. The curatorial concept is captivating: three spaces have co-curated the programme, which deals with artistic strategies between sound and silence in the three metropolitan areas of LA, Berlin and Mexico City. We continue to VORFLUTER to dive US painter Miranda Holmes' exhibition Now Sounds; Holmes uses transparent, layered paint to embrace expansive notions of identity and intimacy, framed by the theory of how we shape one another and the places we inhabit through spaces of overlap. Galerie im Saalbau presents Redemption, Maybe by Barcelona-born and Berlin-based artist Mariona Berenguer. In a poetic and critical manner and through sculptural, textile, graphic, and installative methods, Berenguer examines the position of (artistic) labour in our society. We conclude the tour at KINDL, with videowork THIS IS POOR! Patterns of poverty by Kerstin Honeit, and Poussière de lune (Moon dust) by Caroline Gueye.
We will end the tour either at Café Babette or Babette's Garden, weather dependent.
