In partnership with Dollar Tree and Family Dollar, the Urban League of Hampton Roads presents the 41st Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Community Leaders Awards, celebrating leaders whose contributions reflect Dr. King's legacy. This year’s Keynote Speaker is Dr. Sarah Lewis, founder of Vision and Justice and Associate Professor at Harvard University. Dr. Lewis, author of the acclaimed book The Unseen Truth: When Race Changed Sight in America, has received praise from last year’s speaker, Dr. Clint Smith, who described the book as transformative.
We are proud to honor Tim Reid, renowned actor, director, and Norfolk native, with the E.L. Hamm Lifetime Achievement Award for his extraordinary career and contributions to the arts and media. Additional honorees for the 2025 MLK Community Leaders Awards include Dr. Alfred Abuhamad (Health), Dr. Scott Miller (Education), Victor Branch (Finance), Jeremy Bridges (Workforce), and Kenny Alexander and Donovan Duncan (Housing), recognizing their outstanding service to the Hampton Roads community.
