THE FIGHT FOR THE FORGES ON VARDIAN MAJORIS
This is a 5-part 40k Crusade that Imaginary Wars is running this September and October!
ARMY SIZE LIMIT: 500pts
DATE: Sunday September 22, 2024
TIME: 11:45 – 4:15
CAMPAIGN FEE: $36 for the campaign OR $10 per day attending
PLAYER CAP: we can fit about 12-16 players on any given Campaign Day (assuming we'll be running 3 - 4 tables for the campaign)
THE STORY SO FAR
Battles continue in the underground reaches of Vardian Majoris, a tithe-planet of the Imperium!
Detecting the enemy incursion in the subterranean hauls of Vardian Majoris was but a small victory for the planet's Diviner-Oblates. Discovering a secret incursion has *not* resulted in stamping it out, despite the Imperium's best efforts.
The fate of the planet rests on a precipice: the forges risk permanent damage--and worse: should enemy forces break to the surface, more than the planet's forges could be at risk....
+ + + + + + + + +
Crusade campaigns are a NON-COMPETITIVE way to play a Warhammer 40,000 league. These campaigns are a great way for players to forge a narrative for their army: each battle results in experience being gained by the units in the player’s army; and as their experience points accumulate, the units will earn new in-game abilities and equipment!
Crusade campaigns encourage cinematic moments, progress in growing players’ armies—and adding personality to each player’s army as it navigates the trials and tribulations of the variety of battles they fight in.
FORMAT
This campaign will be a Crusade in FIVE chapters—however not all the chapters will be conducted on a weekly basis, so as to better accommodate the hobbying side of this campaign (see below).
Like the first Chapter of the campaign, the second Chapter will also be conducted using the Boarding Actions rules set.
Games played will be set at 500-point armies per player. Points limits for armies playing in the Chapters following the first two will escalate:
Chapter Three October 6: 750 pts
Chapter Four (date TBA): 850pts
NO PAINTING REQUIREMENT FOR MODELS
There is no painting requirement for armies that will be used to play in the Crusade, but they must be assembled and be on proper-sized bases.
EXPERIENCE POINTS FOR PAINTING!
Though Imaginary Wars has no painting requirement for models being used in games at the store, we do endeavor to promote the full hobby of Warhammer, this time especially. Because the Crusade format awards experience to units that participate in a battle, we’ve decided to also award units experience for making the jump from grey plastic to being fully painted!
Players can choose whether they want to opt in to this element of the campaign; there’s no penalty for starting the campaign with an assembled, unprimed army and making it to the end of the campaign with an assembled, unprimed army. Your units will only miss out on a small amount of experience points.
HOBBYING BONUS:
-- Any unit that goes from grey (primed) status to a Battle Ready standard paint job will get a one-time bonus of SIX Experience points!
-- On the Crusade day that the newly-painted unit first hits the table, that player will receive a free beverage
-- Any unit that starts the campaign already painted to a Battle Ready status will gain a one-time bonus of ONE Experience per 5 models in the unit (so: a 10-man unit would receive 2xp)
BATTLE READY
Battle Ready models have their main areas painted and a simple finish is on their bases ie: the base is not bare plastic or just the colour of primer.
Of course, some accountability is required: we’ll need to see a photo of the grey unit *before* we see the photo of it completed to Battle Ready.
FUNDAMENTALS OF IN-STORE GAMING AT IMAGINARY WARS
WYSIWG MODEL REQUIREMENTS
‘What You See Is What You Get’ means all models have their primary weapons appropriately modelled on the miniature; the store plays does play loose enough with WSIYWG, so long as the player intention behind any variance is honest (ie: *not* using small models to represent big models or having an all-sword unit represent an al heavy-weapons unit etc etc).
PROXIES & 3D PRINTED MODELS
- Straight-up proxies ("these marines are actually Ork Boyz" etc) is NOT allowed.
- 3D Printed models are not allowed.
- More...inspired proxies *can* be allowed, so long as they are NOT 3D printed models. These will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and the player must contact Imaginary Wars prior to the event.
CONVERSIONS & 3D-PRINTED BITZ
Conversions are welcome, but the core of the model must still be a GW model, and the model should still be representative of the rules being used for it in the game.
3D-printed accessories are acceptable for conversions if the rest of the model follows the ethos that they are being added to a GW model.
