About this Event
Ever fancied a go on a potters wheel? This class is aimed at throwing newbies, suitable for total beginners aged 16 plus. Class size is small so you’ll have plenty of advice and tips from one of our professional pottery tutors.
Each session is 2.5 hours long from 9.30-12 on the following dates …
22nd Feb, 1st 8th and 15th March.
Please make sure you can make all the dates as we cannot offer alternatives or refunds.
Week one will be basic cylinders. We will aim for at least two of your best cylinders to be made into mugs. These will be wrapped and kept until the next week ready for the next stage.
Week two will be trimming. You’ll learn how to trim your mugs to make them nice and neat on the base. You will also learn 2 ways of making handles and how to attach them securely.
Week three we will look at bowl forms. We will aim for two cereal size bowls and keep them wrapped up for trimming the following week.
Week four will be trimming the cereal bowls and trimming in a foot ring or adding one if not enough clay on base.
Your pots will be glazed in our house white glaze and ready to pick up about 4 weeks later. Pots must be picked up within a month of being notified.
Please bring your own apron and towel and a cold drink if you want one.
Wear warm clothing as this is a working pottery (we make tableware as well as doing classes)
Please note there may be dogs in the workshop so if you’re scared or allergic, please let us know so we can make alternative arrangements.
