2026 4-H Wood Duck Project
About the Project
Open to 4-H youth ages 5–18 in Lancaster, Kershaw, Lee, Fairfield, Chester, Lexington, Saluda, Richland, Newberry, Union, and York counties. Youth learn about wood duck habitat management and track nesting activity during the spring and summer.
Participants will use paper (only one page) or online tracking and complete a short, no-stress, group interview via ZOOM at the end of the project.

- Registration Closes: February 13, 2026
- Virtual Kickoff: February 19, 2026 | 6:30 PM (Zoom)
- Optional Field Day: February 21, 2026 | 1:00 PM (Location TBD)
- Project Tracking: February–July 2026
- Records Due: August 1, 2026
Registration Options
Option 1 – Registration Only | $10
For youth using existing boxes, building their own box, or assisting with boxes maintained by the 4-H Agent or an approved volunteer.
Returning Participants:
Past participants may register for Option 1 at no cost using promo code woody.
Option 2 – Registration + Duck Box + Predator Guard | $30
Limited to the first 9 participants with access to suitable habitat.
4x4 post and nesting material not included.
Field Day Notes
The optional field day is outdoors and may include walking in wooded or swampy areas. Closed-toe shoes are required; waterproof boots are recommended. Youth must be accompanied by an adult.
