Explore the interesting world of insects and learn to build your very own scientific collection! This limited-time club is open to ages 10 to 18. By the end of the four days, youth should feel more comfortable identifying, collecting, and curating insect specimens. Collections can be entered into the annual 4-H Insectathon for possible statewide recognition.
Schedule
- Introduction to Insect Identification: Saturday, October 5 - 3:00 - 5:00 pm, Twin Lakes Park
- Collection Techniques: Saturday, October 12 - 3:00 - 5:00 pm, Twin Lakes Park
- Pinning Specimens: Sunday, October 13 - 3:00 - 5:00 pm, Twin Lakes Park
- Labeling and Wrap-Up: Saturday, October 19 - 3:00 - 5:00 pm, Twin Lakes Park
Instructor: Jackie Lebouitz, UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County, Chemicals in the Environment Agent
Time: 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Light refreshments and snacks will be provided.
Cost: $10.00 per person (excluding additional Eventbrite fees)
Advance registration is required. You may buy your tickets online or pay at the door before the event. Please make out any checks to the University of Florida.
